Pastoral Virus

This quote helps us to understand the Pastoral Virus. I’m not certain that it is correct, but it is very much worth considering:

http://www.godstruthtous.com/notes/churchalie.htm

“With scripture mixed with the teachings of men …. is True evil accomplished …for true evil …is evil masked in good.”

Pastor’s have an evil seed in their souls, this deception about their role. This seed has taken root and causes much destruction. This destruction will continue thru a Pastor’s career until they start really seeking and listening to God; until they really start seeking the whole Truth. This virus blinds them from seeing their sin (the pride selfishness and greed and it’s consequences). They can not see that they are stealing form God’s flock. They can not see the death and destruction that this causes.

If they were truly seeking God, seeking his will, building on his word, following his Holy Spirit they would know that they are sinning, they could see the devastation of their work and they would repent. Unfortunately the are relying more on what their teacher told them, than on what God’s Word and his Holy Spirt are trying to tell them. Remember All scripture, not just the easy parts, is God Breathed and good for rebuking correcting…

What’s Really Going on?

Today’s Pastors have been given a corrupt view of their roles in the church. They’ve totally lost the concept of the leader as the slave. They’ve ignored Paul’s tentmaker example in favor of a paid priesthood. They’ve abandoned the believer gathering command in 1 Cor 14 along with its warnings. They’ve never followed Jesus example of washing the feet of those he led.  Servant Leadership  Jesus Foot Washing Example

At first I thought that this should be labeled a “Pastoral Worm” but take a look at Wikipedia’s definition of a computer worm:

“… a self-replicating computer program. It uses a network to send copies of itself to other nodes (computer terminals on the network) and it may do so without any user intervention. Unlike a virus, it does not need to attach itself to an existing program. Worms almost always cause harm to the network, if only by consuming bandwidth, whereas viruses almost always corrupt or modify files on a targeted computer.”

Although this deception is clearly self-replicating (like a worm), it also corrupts those it touches. This corruption is only associated with viruses.

Today’s Pastors are suffering under a Theological Virus, a self replicating deception that the Devil worked into God’s church around the time of Constantine. This theological virus has replicated itself in generation after generation of pastors. Pastors think their assignment is to grow their church, not following the simple Biblical call of equipping believers to live for Christ. It appears that none of today’s pastors have been able to see the simple truth that God’s Word still reveals. The job of Pastor is not a paid position. Gentile Pastors are called to follow Paul’s tent maker example. God does not need, nor does he appreciate, our building monuments (churches) to him. There is no need to divert God’s precious resources to salaries or buildings. God calls his church to be salt and light for this fallen world, not comfortably sheltered inside our air conditioned buildings.

Let Your Light Shine

NIV Mat 5;14 “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

-Today’s church buildings act like the bowl. When the Church, the assembly of believers, is seeking, sharing, & yielding to God’s Holy Spirit, allowing him to develop & use their spiritual gifts, growing and being transformed; only then is she overcoming sin and allowing herself to be perfected.

I’ve been given an analogy that shows how the church building is actually a detriment to her good. Let’s say your assignment is to ride your bikes for 100 miles each week, presenting yourself as an example for local energy conservation efforts. Rather than building ourselves up to that ability out on the road we go to a nice air conditioned gym (our church). Our initial plan is to build up strength in the comfort & safety in the gym just for a week or two.

Near the end of the two weeks the gym manager (the pastor) comes by and tells us there is really no difference between riding in the gym and riding out on the street. We like the air-conditioning, the comfy seat on the gym bike, and the high class people we meet @ the gym so we buy his argument. If we were honest we could see that we are not being true to our call, not “presenting ourselves as examples for energy conservation” out on the streets of our town, but still we are getting stronger, and we could better fulfill our call than we could before we started. We’d rather take the easy path so we just blank out the realization that week after week that we continue to fail in our assignment.  Our Assignment – To Ignore Todays Blind Leaders

Our Christian assignment: Carry our cross, build our life on the foundation of God’s Word, seek the Holy Spirit and respond to his directions (obeying), shine God’s light in this dark world (being the salt), give to and helping the poor the weak the sick and the prisoner, always remembering that the wisdom of men is nothing when compared to God’s wisdom.

NIV 1 Cor 1;22 Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength. Serving God; Finding Our Assignment

Dear God,

Please help us all to find our assignment, to have the courage to leave our comfy gyms and to follow you! In Jesus mighty name we pray, Amen.
