The Lord’s Prayer – My Take

KJV Matthew 6:9-23

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

YLT Matthew 6:9-23

9 thus therefore pray ye: `Our Father who [art] in the heavens! hallowed be Thy name.

10 `Thy reign come: Thy will come to pass, as in heaven also on the earth.

11 `Our appointed bread give us to-day.

12 `And forgive us our debts, as also we forgive our debtors.

13 `And mayest Thou not lead us to temptation, but deliver us from the evil, because Thine is the reign, and the power, and the glory — to the ages. Amen.

14 `For, if ye may forgive men their trespasses He also will forgive you — your Father who [is] in the heavens;

15 but if ye may not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

16 `And when ye may fast, be ye not as the hypocrites, of sour countenances, for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear to men fasting; verily I say to you, that they have their reward.

17 `But thou, fasting, anoint thy head, and wash thy face,

18 that thou mayest not appear to men fasting, but to thy Father who [is] in secret, and thy Father, who is seeing in secret, shall reward thee manifestly.

19 `Treasure not up to yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust disfigure, and where thieves break through and steal,

20 but treasure up to yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth disfigure, and where thieves do not break through nor steal,

21 for where your treasure is, there will be also your heart.

22 `The lamp of the body is the eye, if, therefore, thine eye may be perfect, all thy body shall be enlightened,

23 but if thine eye may be evil, all thy body shall be dark; if, therefore, the light that [is] in thee is darkness — the darkness, how great the darkness

My rewording is:

Mat 6:10-15

9 Our Heavenly father, help us to honor your name to know you more

10 To see your will being done on earth as it is in heaven

11 Provide us with the spiritual food we need to sustain and grow us.

12 Help us to forgive others Debts so ours might be forgiven.

13 Turn us from our lust temptation and sin, as we claim your promise to deliver us from evil.

14-15 Help us to forgive all even those who hate and cheat us so we will be forgiven.

16-18 Fast in private, only to God, or God will abandon your efforts

19-21 Turn our attention from the decaying distracting things of this world, to the uplifting, and pure; the rewards of heaven.

22-23 Remove the dark veils from our eyes and from our bodies. Keep us moving from darkness into your light.

Dear God,

Please help us to see thru the mirror, to follow you into all truth. Pls remove the veil that blinds us so that we can truly serve and follow you. Help us know you in Spirit and in Truth! Amen,

Glenn
