Passing From Death to The Age of Life

YLT John 5:24

‘Verily, verily, I say to you — He who is hearing my word, and is believing Him who sent me, hath life age-during, and to judgment he doth not come, but hath passed out of the death to the life.  There are many passages in our current Bible translations say eternal life, but really mean “to the end of the age”.

This ties in closely with Those Who Never Taste Death

excerpt:  KJV John 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? –The folks who never taste death are the ones who both live and believe in Christ.  Let’s  look at the full passage in John 5.

NASB John 5:18-30  Jesus’ Equality with God

18For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.

19Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner. 20“For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will marvel. 21“For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes. 22“For not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son, 23so that all will honor the Son even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

24“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

Two Resurrections

25“Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26“For just as the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself; 27and He gave Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man. 28“Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, 29and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

30“I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

The folks who hear Jesus and believe in him are those who never taste death in [vs 24]. These are the chosen, the few who Christ chooses in this life, the beheaded, the new creations in Christ. The folks who only hear Jesus [vs 25] are the sheep. The sheep fall asleep, and are chosen when they wake at the Great White Throne. There is a third group here. The goats must endure their day of wrath, their day of the Lord, in the age after the Great White Throne. I think this happens in the Lake of Fire age. The Fate Of The Ungodly

In the Post Script, I will present numerous related references, but I need to address Sleepers Riding Christ’s Rapture Waves Into Heaven . Here is an excerpt from that post:

I think we can look at the passing of one who lives in Christ as a spiritual wave. Those who only believe in Christ can not make it to heaven on their own, they fall asleep and have to wait until Christ’s next true disciple passes. These sleepers are waiting to ride the next spiritual wave ahead of the next true disciple. I believe this first happened when Jesus died, and has recurred many times since then. Remember Matthew’s opened graves [Matt 27:52]. John talks about the same thing in John 5:28.

KJV John 5:28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

Dear God,

Please guide us to the truth, to the whole truth, to knowing you in Spirit and in truth. We trust that your will is already being done on earth as it is in heaven! Help us to know your glory and your excellence, and to claim your promises. Help us to add worthiness, knowledge, temperance, endurance, piety, brotherly kindness, and love; to our faith. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.
