Who Are The Spiritual North, South, East and West?

This may seem like a trivial question, but this is a key to understanding the difference between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of heaven. I believe that the these are two different rewards for folks with different callings. I now see the Kingdom of God is the reward of the prophet, and the kingdom of heaven is the reward of the righteous.

The Bible declares that the folks entering the Kingdom of God come from the East West North and South, while the Kingdom of Heaven folks come from the East and West. So let’s dig in to these folks from the North, South, East and West so we can better understand what God’s word is telling us. Who are these folks from the north and south that are excluded from the kingdom of Heaven. Here are the two “kingdom of” passages.

NIV Matt 8:10-17 Kingdom of Heaven Folks

10When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. 11And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. 12But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 13And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

14And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever. 15And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. 16When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: 17That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

Some of the folks from the east and west can enter the Kingdom of heaven! It is interesting to note that no one from the north or south is given access to this kingdom of heaven. We’ll talk about what’s going on here in the summary.

NIV Luke 13:22-30 The Narrow Door

22Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem. 23Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?”

He said to them, 24“Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. 25Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’

But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’

26“Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’

27“But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!

28“There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out. 29People will come from east and west and north and south, and will take their places at the feast in the kingdom of God. 30Indeed there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be last.”]

The Kingdom of God, the narrow way folks come from all four direction, from the east west north and south. So what is really going on here? Who are the folks from the east west north and south that are given the Kingdom of heaven? We’ll start looking at these folks from the North.

The North:

The Backsliding Israel

ASV Jer 3:12-18

12 Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith Jehovah; I will not look in anger upon you; for I am merciful, saith Jehovah, I will not keep anger for ever. 13 Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against Jehovah thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith Jehovah. 14 Return, O backsliding children, saith Jehovah; for I am a husband unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion: 15 and I will give you shepherds according to my heart, who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. 16 And it shall come to pass, when ye are multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith Jehovah, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of Jehovah; neither shall it come to mind; neither shall they remember it; neither shall they miss it; neither shall it be made any more. 17 At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of Jehovah; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of Jehovah, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the stubbornness of their evil heart. 18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I gave for an inheritance unto your fathers.

The Backsliding Israel is told to acknowledge their iniquity, their scattering ways. If they do God will bring them one at a time perhaps two from a family to Mt Zion, to God holy mountain, his promised land. There he will give them shepherds according to his heart. God will free them from the stubbornness of their evil hearts and bring them out from the land of the North. This indicates that not only the priest-class, but also the church goer start are in the land of the North.

ASV Isaiah 14:13 Thou saidst in thine heart, I will ascend into the heavens, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God and I will sit upon the mount of congregation, in the sides of the north.

The ones from the North exalt themselves – sitting at the mount of the congregations. These are the sons of the reign, the clergy, our worldly, lord over, priest class, and the deceived men who follow them. The clergy are Joel’s army from the North. These are the tares planted among the wheat, the locusts, and the scorpions! As long as they refuse to acknowledge their iniquity, that they have transgressed against God, having scattered God’s followers and not obeyed his voice, his wrath is on them.

The South:

ASV Ez 20:46-48

46 Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the field in the South;

47 and say to the forest of the South, Hear the word of Jehovah: Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burnt thereby.

48 And all flesh shall see that I, Jehovah, have kindled it; it shall not be quenched.

The humble folks of the south are those who are refined thru the fire, the remnant. The Lord will kindle his fire in the south. This is the fire that he wished was already burning when he came to the Israelite’s.

ASV Is 43:5-6 5Fear not, for I am with thee; I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west 6I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back bring My sons from far, and My daughters from the end of the earth

The northerners are told to give up – in their pride they are clearly doomed, the folks of the south are told to keep not back, – to move forward in their humility, to bring God’s sons and daughters back from the ends of the earth.

ASV Ezekiel 42:13

13 Then said he unto me, The north chambers and the south chambers, which are before the separate place, they are the holy chambers, where the priests that are near unto Jehovah shall eat the most holy things: there shall they lay the most holy things, and the meal-offering, and the sin-offering, and the trespass-offering; for the place is holy.

As we saw in Jer 3 [top] the north chambers are the backsliding preachers of pride. I believe that the folks of the south are the remnant the humble preachers who have come thru and speak with fire.

The Folks of The World – From the East to the West:

Isaiah 9:12-17

12The Syrians from the east and the Philistines from the west

will bare their fangs and devour Israel.

But even then the Lord’s anger will not be satisfied.

His fist is still poised to strike.

13 For after all this punishment, the people will still not repent.

They will not seek the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

14 Therefore, in a single day the Lord will destroy both the head and the tail,

the noble palm branch and the lowly reed.

15 The leaders of Israel are the head,

and the lying prophets are the tail.

16 For the leaders of the people have misled them.

They have led them down the path of destruction.

17 That is why the Lord takes no pleasure in the young men

and shows no mercy even to the widows and orphans.

For they are all wicked hypocrites,

and they all speak foolishness.

But even then the Lord’s anger will not be satisfied.

His fist is still poised to strike.

The Lord’s anger is still coming on Israel even after these folks from the east and the west devour them, God’s anger against Israel remains because the folks of Israel continue to follow bad leaders and lying prophets, men who led them down a path of destruction. Because they refuse to repent, God anger remains upon them. This is developed further in God’s Anger, The Beginning and The End

I’ve included three translations of Isaiah 45:5-7. I believe that they reinforce each other nicely. Let’s first look at the most literal translation, YLT. Then we’ll take a look at the AMP and the NLT.

YLT Isaiah 45:5-7

5 I [am] Jehovah, and there is none else, Except Me there is no God, I gird thee, and thou hast not known Me.

6 So that they know from the rising of the sun, And from the west, that there is none besides Me, I [am] Jehovah, and there is none else,

7 Forming light, and preparing darkness, Making peace, and preparing evil, I [am] Jehovah, doing all these things.’

AMP Is 45:5-7

5 I am the Lord, and there is no one else; there is no God besides Me. I will gird and arm you, though you have not known Me,

6 That men may know from the east and the rising of the sun and from the west and the setting of the sun that there is no God besides Me. I am the Lord, and no one else [is He].

7 I form the light and create darkness, I make peace [national well-being] and I create [physical] [a]evil (calamity); I am the Lord, Who does all these things.

NLT Isaiah 45:5-7

5 I am the Lord;

there is no other God.

I have equipped you for battle,

though you don’t even know me,

6 so all the world from east to west

will know there is no other God.

I am the Lord, and there is no other.

7 I create the light and make the darkness.

I send good times and bad times.

I, the Lord, am the one who does these things.

The folks of the north are the backsliding teachers of the law, the pharisees, the scoffers who have a form of godliness but deny God’s power, and the deceived men who follow them.

NIV 2 Timothy 3:5

having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

Not certain on this, but see the Northerners as any proud [deserving of pay] spiritual leaders, not only Christian, but any person deeming himself worthy to accept pay to lead others to God.

The folks of the South are the few, the chosen. God has shown these folks their filthy self righteousness. He is revealing his immense glory and power to these pieces of clay. These folks are in the fire, the fire that Jesus wished was already burning. The words of these few will burn thru the wood hay and stubble of the folks from the east and the west.

The folks of the East and West: These are the folks of the world, including the Jew, the Gentile, and the heathen. These folks have their treasure in this world [retirement funds, worldly status[pride of men], governments, nations of men.

Let’s look back at a question we raised earlier. Why are there none from the north or south who can enter the kingdom of heaven? The Folks from the North are barred from the kingdom of heaven by their lack of righteousness, or perhaps their self righteousness. This passage spells it out pretty clearly.

NLT Matthew 5:20

But I warn you—unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven!

The southerners are also banned from this kingdom of heaven. What is going on here? I think that this is also well explained in scripture. The bible tells that Jesus will lose none of the ones that God gives him.

NLT John 18:4-9

4 Jesus fully realized all that was going to happen to him, so he stepped forward to meet them. “Who are you looking for?” he asked.

5 “Jesus the Nazarene,”[a] they replied.

I Am he,”[b] Jesus said. (Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them.) 6 As Jesus said “I Am he,” they all drew back and fell to the ground! 7 Once more he asked them, “Who are you looking for?”

And again they replied, “Jesus the Nazarene.”

8 “I told you that I Am he,” Jesus said. “And since I am the one you want, let these others go.” 9 He did this to fulfill his own statement: “I did not lose a single one of those you have given me.”

Jesus will fulfill this promise in the end. He will not lose any of those that God gives him, any from the remnant, any that have the veil removed from their eyes, any of the chosen few. All of these southerners are headed for the kingdom of God, for the reward of the prophet. Since all these southerners are destined for the kingdom of God, none will enter the kingdom of heaven!

The other notable issue here has been discussed in the previous post. There are a few in the North who make it into the Kingdom of God. The very few who admit their blindness will be given access to the reward of the prophet, the Kingdom of God. There are a few of Simon The Sorcerer’s Modern Day Disciples that because they admit their blindness will be considered innocent!

Dear God,

Please help us to share and refine these truths, to better understand your will and your glory, to humble ourselves and simply obey. In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen.

Who Are The Spiritual North, South, East and West?

P.S. Here are some passages that will probably as we understand them better, give us more understanding of the folks from the north, south, east and west.

All Directions:

KJV Zechariah 6:1-10

1And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass.

2In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses;

3And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses.

4Then I answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these, my lord?

5And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the LORD of all the earth.

6The black horses which are therein go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the grisled go forth toward the south country.

7And the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and fro through the earth. So they walked to and fro through the earth.

8Then cried he upon me, and spake unto me, saying, Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country.

9And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

10Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah, which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah; ?

So the black followed by the white go to the north country [the proud], the grisled go to the south[to attack the humble], and the bay go to and fro through the earth[perhaps to the east and to the west??

This passage talks about how the north and south are separated from the folks from the east and west in the day of the Lord.

AMP Zch 14:1-7

1 Behold, a day of the Lord is coming when the spoil [taken from you] shall be divided [among the victors] in the midst of you.

2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken and the houses rifled and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

3 Then shall the Lord go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fought in the day of battle.

4 And His feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives, which lies before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from the east to the west by a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north and half of it toward the south.

5 And you shall flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal, and you shall flee as you fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah; and the Lord my [Zechariah’s] [a]God shall come, and all the holy ones [saints and angels] with Him.

6 And it shall come to pass in that day that there shall not be light; the glorious and bright ones [the heavenly bodies] shall be darkened.7 But it shall be one continuous day, known to the Lord—not day and not night, but at evening time there shall be light.

I believe this passage is occurring in the ages to come. This is when the Lord makes the wicked drink their cup of wrath, and the ungodly must endure their day of wrath.

NLT Rev 10:1-8 The Angel and the Small Scroll

1 Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven, surrounded by a cloud, with a rainbow over his head. His face shone like the sun, and his feet were like pillars of fire. 2 And in his hand was a small scroll[a] that had been opened. He stood with his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land. 3 And he gave a great shout like the roar of a lion. And when he shouted, the seven thunders answered.

4 When the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write. But I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Keep secret[b] what the seven thunders said, and do not write it down.”

5 Then the angel I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand toward heaven. 6 He swore an oath in the name of the one who lives forever and ever, who created the heavens and everything in them, the earth and everything in it, and the sea and everything in it. He said, “There will be no more delay. 7 When the seventh angel blows his trumpet, God’s mysterious plan will be fulfilled. It will happen just as he announced it to his servants the prophets.”

8 Then the voice from heaven spoke to me again: “Go and take the open scroll from the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.”

What do the seven thunders say? Could it be the words of this angel in vs 6-8?

NLT Rev 19:4-9

4 Then the twenty-four elders and the four living beings fell down and worshiped God, who was sitting on the throne. They cried out, “Amen! Praise the Lord!”

5 And from the throne came a voice that said,

Praise our God,

all his servants,

all who fear him,

from the least to the greatest.”

6 Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a vast crowd or the roar of mighty ocean waves or the crash of loud thunder:

Praise the Lord!

For the Lord our God,[b] the Almighty, reigns.

7 Let us be glad and rejoice,

and let us give honor to him.

For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb,

and his bride has prepared herself.

8 She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.”

For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God’s holy people.

9 And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And he added, “These are true words that come from God.”

There really are a few in the north, a few of today’s priest class who admit their blindness, who don’t claim to be called of God. These men who actually admit that they are blind, that consider their preaching just a job, God considers innocent!! Their righteousness does exceed that of the teachers of the law. Some of these folks are on the narrow way. They are given the reward of the prophet – the kingdom of God. They are not guilty of building monuments to prophets. They are not guilty of taking advantage of the trust of the innocent. Their admission of blindness – their refusal to claim ‘being called of God’ delivers them from the wrath of the ungodly. This is developed in Simon The Sorcerer’s Modern Day Disciples
