The Fate Of The Ungodly

Let me begin this post with a short discussion on the three groups described in the Bible. I think that everyone belongs to one of these three groups – the chosen few; the many righteous sheep; and the many ungodly goats:

The Disciples of Christ:

These folks start out as the wicked, but all the wicked are changed in this life. Most become the righteous sheep, A very few are selected as the chosen. The wicked are described here: The Fate Of The Wicked.

These folks pretend to honor the covenant, reciting God’s decrees, but treating his word like trash (Ps 50:16-17), and some who think God doesn’t care (Ps 50:21), even those who refuse to seek God, preferring to think God is dead (Ps 10:4). Just like Paul, these wicked “chief sinners” are chosen by God, and given ears to hear and eyes to see in this life. First these wicked folks are sprinkled with clean water. After they are chastened and scourged[sprinkled with clean water], God considers them righteous. These are the many that sit with Abraham Issac and Jacob in the Kingdom of Heaven[Matthew 8:11]. This is the God’s first step to salvation for the chosen few, but many who are sprinkled with clean water will not be given the new heart and the spirit in this life. The many folks are not among the few that God gives to Jesus, but these folks who are sprinkled with clean water, do drinking their cup of wine-wrath, hearing God’s rebukes (Ps 75:8) repenting without defiance in this life. These are the many sheep, given the reward of the righteous -the kingdom of Heaven. I think these folks sit at the marriage supper of the lamb.

The Ungodly Goats:

This group includes the folk who preach lasciviousness, who live to satisfy their desires, bragging, grumbling, and complaining,  the ungodly who follow Balaam, deceiving people for money and the folks who follow Korah, rebelling against God’s anointed, or those who simply taking advantage of the weak and poor.  These folks are headed for the Lake of Fire, their day of wrath, in the lake of fire age. Still their flesh will be burned away and they will be saved.  [Jude 1, and 2 Peter 2, Matt 25:31-46].

Recapping:

This life separates the wicked into two groups. Some wicked are among God;s chosen few. God chose these people before they were born! Other wicked folks are sprinkled with clean water, chastened and scourged, selected as a child of God, considered righteous and geiven the reward of the righteous – the Kingdom of heaven!! The other group that is mentioned in the Bible is the Goats. The ones who drink their cup of God’s wrath in the age to come, in the lake of fire. These too are saved and given access to the promised land.

NLT Jude 1:4

4 I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives[KJV lasciviousness GWT sexual freedom]. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

The condemnation of these ungodly folks was recorded long ago. I believe these ungodly people include those who blaspheme the Holy Spirit, those who both take the mark of the beast and worship his image. They will not be forgiven in this world, nor in the world to come!

YLT Rev 19:9-12 And a third messenger did follow them, saying in a great voice, `If any one the beast doth bow before, and his image, and doth receive a mark upon his forehead, or upon his hand,

10 he also shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, that hath been mingled unmixed in the cup of His anger, and he shall be tormented in fire and brimstone before the holy messengers, and before the Lamb,

11 and the smoke of their torment doth go up to ages of ages[end of the age]; and they have no rest day and night, who are bowing before the beast and his image, also if any doth receive the mark of his name.

12 Here is endurance of the saints: here [are] those keeping the commands of God, and the faith of Jesus.

This is not an eternal torment. I suspect this will be more severe than the cup of wrath for the wicked. These next two passages talks about the coming age of wrath for the ungodly.

NLT Rom 2:2 You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things. 2 And we know that God, in his justice, will punish anyone who does such things. 3 Since you judge others for doing these things, why do you think you can avoid God’s judgment when you do the same things? 4 Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?

5 But because you are stubborn and refuse to turn from your sin, you are storing up terrible punishment for yourself. For a day of anger is coming, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. 6 He will judge everyone according to what they have done. 7 He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers. 8 But he will pour out his anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and instead live lives of wickedness. 9 There will be trouble and calamity for everyone who keeps on doing what is evil—for the Jew first and also for the Gentile.

These folks are also described in Matthew as blasphemers of the Holy Spirit.

KJV Matt 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

The folks who blaspheme the Holy Spirit are not forgiven in this age, in this life on earth; or in the age to come [at the great white throne judgment]. This does not preclude forgivness in the age after that, in the Lake of Fire Age.

They must endure the age of wrath, the fire that Lazarus’s rich man was enduring. This is not an age of eternal wrath.

Dear God,

Please help us to share and refine these understandings. We claim your promise to lead us into all truth as we seek and share with other seekers. Please continue to guide and protect us, in Jesus name we pray, Amen.

9 While he knows that The Written Law was not appointed for the righteous, but for the evil, the rebellious, the wicked, for sinners, for the vicious, for those who are impure, for those who strike their fathers, those who strike their mothers, for murderers,

The ungodly consider nothing sacred, defile holy things, strike their mother and father, committing other murders too.

Later, God condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and turned them into heaps of ashes. He made them an example of what will happen to ungodly people

And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed.
