So That No Man Can Boast – None “Chose To Follow God”!!!

This article came about as a revelation when I was praying for a brother who still thinks that he has chosen to follow God. As I was praying for the proper “parable” to speak into his life, I heard, “So That No Man Can Boast”. This brother preaches that he has chosen to follow Christ. All our attempts to show him that this is boasting, [that the Bible declares that God chooses us] go unheard and misunderstood. The Lesson Of Cain, God Chooses Us  He can not see that his claim that he has chosen to be a follower of Christ is a boast. Lets start our with an Old Testament verse that places severe limits on human boasting:

NLT Jeremiah 9:24

But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the LORD who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the LORD, have spoken!
Our only boast, the only boast that is acknowleged by the Lord is that we know and understand the Lord – that he demonstrates his unfailing love and brings justice and righteousness to the earth.  If we think that we are “choosing righteousness” we are mistaken!

NLT Eph 2:1-10 Made Alive with Christ

1Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. 2You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. 3All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.

4But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead.(It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) 6For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. 7So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.

8God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Summary:

We can claim no credit in salvation! It is a gift of God – not a reward for the things we have done [So That None Can Boast]

God knows us! He made us!! This is a humbling thing. I spent so many years in the deception of our harlot Babylonian churches. We were all taught this false idea that we somehow choose God, but that is not what the Bible says [Those who despise the NLT pls state your case in whatever translation you prefer and will be happy to respond in any translation you choose – but I’m confidant that the spirit will show you this is not a mis-translation!!! This is what Paul explained. ]. This desire to know God, this coming out of Babylon, coming out of Laodicea can not be accomplished “in the flesh” this is a spirit thing!!!! It is only thru Christ, thru humbling ourselves, hearing his voice, and obediently responding that we can do anything good!!!!!

I’m hoping that you can make it thru the prayer and the post script. They delve a little deeper into what the word describes as boasting.

Prayer:

Dear God,

Please turn us from our pride, from our ego, from selfishness and worldliness. We want so much to make ourselves worthy of your grace, but truth be told, none are worthy, none are righteous. We are all just filthy rags, unworthy servants. Please help us to grasp the wonders of your grace and your mercy!!! Pls forgive our sins, turn us from our pride, our selfrighteousness, and our ego; make us into the your new creations! Amen.

NLT 2 Cor 12:1-7 Paul’s Vision and His Thorn in the Flesh

1This boasting will do no good, but I must go on. I will reluctantly tell about visions and revelations from the Lord. 2Ia was caught up to the third heaven fourteen years ago. Whether I was in my body or out of my body, I don’t know—only God knows. 3Yes, only God knows whether I was in my body or outside my body. But I do know 4that I was caught upb to paradise and heard things so astounding that they cannot be expressed in words, things no human is allowed to tell.

5That experience is worth boasting about, but I’m not going to do it. I will boast only about my weaknesses. 6If I wanted to boast, I would be no fool in doing so, because I would be telling the truth. But I won’t do it, because I don’t want anyone to give me credit beyond what they can see in my life or hear in my message, 7even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud.

Paul will not boast about even his most profound revelations, he recognizes them not as endorsements of his worth, but reluctantly shares the parts that he is allowed highlighting his weakness. He understand that the Lord needs us all to remain humble!!!

NLT Ps 51:1-9

1Why do you boast about your crimes, great warrior?

Don’t you realize God’s justice continues forever?

2All day long you plot destruction.

Your tongue cuts like a sharp razor;

you’re an expert at telling lies.

3You love evil more than good

and lies more than truth.

Interlude

4You love to destroy others with your words,

you liar!

5But God will strike you down once and for all.

He will pull you from your home

and uproot you from the land of the living.

Interlude

6The righteous will see it and be amazed.

They will laugh and say,

7“Look what happens to mighty warriors

who do not trust in God.

They trust their wealth instead

and grow more and more bold in their wickedness.”

8But I am like an olive tree, thriving in the house of God.

I will always trust in God’s unfailing love.

9I will praise you forever, O God,

for what you have done.

I will trust in your good name

in the presence of your faithful people.
