Postmortal Preterism: Armageddon After Death

Perhaps you have already deduced that I don’t agree with the interpretations of either the Partial or Full Preterists. I simply could not accept their assertion that Jesus Millennial kingdom has already come to earth.  Now I see that they were partially correct.  Ever since Jesus’ victory over Satan on the cross, the Devil has been restrained from deceiving the 12 nations that worship on God’s Holy mountain, the true remnant.  I still think that the final trumpet blows when we pass from this earth, and that the battle of Armageddon, the Great White Throne Judgment, occurs after we pass. I don’t use the term die, because, according to Jesus, many of us will never die! Those Who Never Taste Death

Let’s first take a look at how Wikipedia defines Preterism and Partial Preterism:

Preterism is an interpretation of Christian eschatology which holds that most or all of the biblical prophecies concerning the End Times refer to events which have already happened in the 1st century after Christ’s birth. The system also claims that Ancient Israel finds its continuation or fulfillment in the Christian church at the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70. The term preterism comes from the Latin praeter, which is listed in Webster’s 1913 dictionary as a prefix denoting that something is “past” or “beyond,” signifying that either all or a majority of Bible prophecy was fulfilled by AD 70. Adherents of Preterism are commonly known as Preterists.

Partial Preterism holds that prophecies such as the destruction of Jerusalem, the Antichrists, the Great Tribulation, and the advent of the Day of the Lord as a “judgment-coming” of Christ were fulfilled in A.D. 70 when the Roman general (and future Emperor) Titus sacked Jerusalem and destroyed the Jewish Temple, putting a permanent stop to the daily animal sacrifices. It identifies “Babylon the Great” (Revelation 17-18) with the ancient pagan City of Rome, or even the city of Jerusalem.[29] Some adherents of Partial Preterism see the Emperor Diocletian as the fulfillment of the “little horn” prophecy of Daniel 7. But this is a minority view. The great majority of Partial Preterists believe that Jerusalem was a “great harlot” destroyed by God in AD 70.

While I can see how the Preterists came to their conclusions, I also see a flaw in their logic. Preterist’s rightly refuse to ignore the soon coming verses, but I’m afraid that  they interpret them too literally. I’ll list a two soon coming passages few here so that you can see whats going on for yourselves. These declare that these prophecies are not in the far off distant future, they will already be occurring in the first generation that hears them. The most well known of these is in Matt 24.

KJV Matt 24: 11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.[referring to today’s ordained priesthood of men!]

12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13But he that shall endure unto the end[until he dies], the same shall be saved.

14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

15When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) [This is already happening organized Christianity is corrupt The Fall Of The Abomination ]

16Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: [we need to Come Out From Babylon, From Today’s Harlot Church, the priest-class abomination is spoiling the daily sacrifice.  None who follow today’s ordained of men ministers can offer his life as a holy sacrifice, they are force to honor men above God – idolatry]

17Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.[Don’t remain in your Babylonian churches or you might end up as a worshiper of the beast]

19And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days![Immature believers are especially vulnerable to this deception.  Don’t remain immature! Find out the difference between Good and Evil!!]

20But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day [I think spiritual winter – spiritually cold/hard times represent eras where men are falling away from God – the opposite of revivals. The spiritual sabbath represents our life of submission and sacrifice. So we are to hope that we don’t have to flee Babylon when there others are falling away and not honoring the sabbath, not offering their lives as living holy sacrifices.  If there are none around us that are holy, set apart for God, we will be all alone and our wilderness experience will be far more difficult!] :

21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.[this time of great tribulation is now!! this life on earth]

22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.[None of us probably deserve it but still God pulls a few of us out of this tribulation, out of Babylon!]

23Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.[Isn’t this telling us to ignore anyone who claims to see Jesus second coming on Earth? God could have worded this to indicate if it was only intended up to a certain time. I trust that God is able (despite man’s best efforts)  to accurately preserve his word!!!!]

24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25Behold, I have told you before.

26Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.[When people tell us they see Jesus coming back to earth Believe it Not!!!  Again if this were something that didn’t apply to us, God’s word or his Holy Spirit would reveal this to us.]

27For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

28For wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together[when we pass, only then will we actually see the Jesus on his throne.  Now we can know that he sits there, but we will not physically see it until after we pass from earth]

29Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened,[after we pass it is too late to claim the promise of the gospel] and the moon shall not give her light[the testimony of other seekers, the church,  cannot be heard], and the stars shall fall from heaven[many believers fall from grace], and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:[the spiritual powers are tested]

30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven[the lightning flash – our passing from earth]: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory[the tribes of the earth].

31And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

32Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

33So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

34Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.[All these things are going on now.  Babylon is fallen.  The Lukewarm church is already vomited out of Jesus’ mouth.]

35Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.[clear enough?]

The other key soon coming passage is Ez 12. Ever since Ezekiel spoke these words, all of the prophecies have been soon coming, they have been experienced in that lives of all their contemporary hearers!!!

KJV Ez 12:21-28

21And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

22Son of man, what is that proverb that ye have in the land of Israel, saying, The days are prolonged, and every vision faileth?

23Tell them therefore, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will make this proverb to cease, and they shall no more use it as a proverb in Israel; but say unto them, The days are at hand, and the effect of every vision.

24For there shall be no more any vain vision nor flattering divination within the house of Israel.

25For I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord GOD.[All prophecy after this time will be soon coming.  It will happen to the generation that is alive when the words are spoken!]

26Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying.

27Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth is for many days to come, and he prophesieth of the times that are far off.

28Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord GOD.

So from the time of Ezekiel all the prophecies have been soon coming, but this does not require that they have already occurred on this earth. It simply requires that those alive at the time of the prophecy first experience it.

There are a few passages that declare the Jesus rule from the throne of David is eternal. Take a look at this one.

KJV Is 9:6-7 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Why would God forever cultivate and never plant? If Jesus were to come back to establish his Millennial Kingdom on earth, God’s planting fields would cease!

KJV Is 28: 22-26

22Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.

23Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech.

24Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? doth he open and break the clods of his ground?

25When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rie in their place?

26For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him.

I leave you with one last question: Would God arbitrarily cut people off from access to his Millennial Kingdom simply because they died too soon? I don’t think so. I’m certainly not saying that he couldn’t, but that doesn’t seem to fit in my estimation.

Dear God,

Please turn us from our double mindedness, from our worldliness, from our lusts and our ego. Help us to humbly seek you, seeking your will, your glory, and your wisdom, in Jesus Mighty name we pray,
