Restoring Holiness And The Daily Sacrifice

Christ’s followers are the new testament temple. Their life of pure worship and service is the new testament’s daily sacrifice. This sacrifice has been spoiled by impurity. Today’s churchgoing Christ seeker is no longer worshiping in purity and holiness. He is tarnished by the leaven of hypocrisy and self righteousness. His worship is spoiled by the old leaven of wickedness and evil. God requires Holy [set apart] sacrifices. Sacrifices offered with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Let’s dig into the passages to see what is really going on.

NLT 1 Cor 3:16 Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? 17 God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple. 18 Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say, “He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.”20 And again, “The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise; he knows they are worthless.” 21 So don’t boast about following a particular human leader. For everything belongs to you. 22 whether Paul or Apollos or Peter, or the world, or life and death, or the present and the future. Everything belongs to you, 23 and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.

Right after we are told that the New Testament Temple is the holy life of Christs followers we are warned that worldly wisdom is a snare, that the wisdom of the world is foolishness to God, and that we need to become fools [fools for Christ] to be truly wise.

Then Paul immediately warns us not to follow a particular human leader because we all belong to Christ, not human leaders.

This next passage again warns us against boasting. Let’s look at this passage.

MKJV 1 Cor 5:6-13 6 Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7 Therefore purge out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, as you are unleavened. For also Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us. 8 Therefore let us keep the feast; not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 9 I wrote to you in the letter not to associate intimately with fornicators; 10 yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then you must go out of the world. 11 But now I have written to you not to associate intimately, if any man called a brother and is either a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one not to eat. 12 For what is it to me to also judge those who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? 13 But God judges those who are outside. Therefore put out from you the evil one.

We need to keep the feast, the worship service, the Real Communion gathering with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. We are not even allowed to eat with folks who say they are believers yet outwardly continue sinning against God. This certainly disallows worshiping with these folks. The sins specifically mentioned hear are fornication, covetousness, idolatry, revilers, drunkards, and extortioners.

God requires his followers to be Holy, to be set aside for him.  We must turn from our sins, especially those committing The Sin That Leads to Death

NLT 1 Cor 6:18 Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. 19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

We must honor God with our bodies because they are the temple of God’s Holy Spirit.  See Biblical Sins: level #3

NLT 2 Cor 6:15 What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? 16 And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

Living Sacrifices

NIV Rom 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship . 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Our reasonable act of worship is to offer our lives as a living holy sacrifice to the Lord. If we are following in the patterns of the world we are on the wrong track. God wants to change and renew us. Only then we can know and do his will.

The Lord’s Plan for Babylon

Dear God,

You know us. You know our pride, our stubborn desires for sin and our persistent rejection of you. Though you have reached out to us day after day and year after year, we still refuse to follow you, to turn from selfishness to service, to turn from pride to humility, to turn from worldliness to spiritual life, to live in you, to live this new life in Christ. We ask that you miraculously restore in us a clean heart, Your grace is such an amazing powerful and wonderful thing, yet we have preferred to live in our sins than simply trusting in you and your power. Dear God please restore us to holy worship, to be set aside for you alone, to restore the daily sacrifice – the Holy life of authentic Christ seekers.  Help us to submit to the transformed life, the life of submission and real communion with you. Deliver us from our demons and our priest class oppressors so that we can sit at your table and sup with you. Help us to seek you as Moses did, to be able to communicate face to face.   In the mighty name of Jesus Christ,

This article reveals difficult spiritual truths.  Please take a look and allow the Holy Spirit to speak into your heart!!

… Now that God has my heart, I really don’t care at all about politics, I simply refuse to play that game knowing that God is in absolute total control of everything and the events of the end times. I want to focus on getting myself and others ready for the Bridegroom.

… Look at the last verse of the above Jeremiah passage[Jer 11:9-13]. Kind of reminds you of all the churches, denominations and ministries one finds out in the world that call themselves Christian. Maybe God was serious about covenant and keeping it. Maybe being in the will of God takes more than saying some words, slapping on a Jesus label, building a steeple, hanging a cross, and putting fish symbols on our cars. Burning incense refers to praying. What if God meant it when He said He does not even hear the prayers of those that practice sin?

… Many may read this passage or the whole book of Jeremiah as a nice historical story about what happened in the past. But I see it differently, I see a prophet called by God recording prophecy that applied to both the current time and the time to come. God inspired all of this to be recorded for us to learn and apply the lesson so we could walk in covenant with Him. God through Jeremiah is giving us a history lesson but more importantly showing us an end time prophecy that is now coming to pass. Lest you think the prophets are historical revelation, think again.

ACTS 13:40 Beware therefore, lest what has been spoken in the prophets come upon you:

Behold, you despisers, Marvel and perish! For I work a work in your days, A work which you will by no means believe, Though one were to declare it to you.’”

The great prophet Ezekiel came along many years after Jeremiah. The Book of Ezekiel is a tremendous prophecy about sin, God’s judgment, and the false teachings that would lead sheep to the slaughter.
