God Is Verses, Part II

Let me try to introduce you to the real God, the God of the Bible.

He is not the weak needy God we find at  Today’s Weak Churches He has no need of our tithes.    Tithing To Church; Robbery And Extortion He doesn’t appreciate any of today’s sermons. Wrong Teaching and Useless Worship He just wants to sitdown with us at   Real Communion Services

Many passages that describe God are detailed here ‘God Is’ Versus

These passages tell us that God is:   a devouring fire;  a jealous God;  a merciful God; the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands, but he does not hesitate to punish and destroy those who reject him; among you; a great and awesome God who will drive those nations out ahead of you little by little. He will throw them into complete confusion until they are destroyed. He will put their kings in your power, and you will erase their names from the face of the earth. No one will be able to stand against you, and you will destroy them all;  the God of gods and Lord of lords. He is the great God , the mighty and awesome God, who shows no partiality and cannot be bribed. 18 He ensures that orphans and widows receive justice. He shows love to the foreigners living among you and gives them food and clothing;

When preachers tell people that God loves them they are twisting the truth. Does God Love You? The truth is that God has already reached out to everyone showing his love. He offered his son as a sacrifice for our sins. If we accept that offer, embracing both in Spirit and in Truth, we are on God’s team. But if we reject that offer and turn away we are rejecting God! If we trample Jesus’ sacrifice underfoot we are in for big trouble.

NLT Heb 10:23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. 24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. 26 Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. 27 There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. 28 For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us. 30 For we know the one who said, “I will take revenge. I will pay them back.” He also said, “The LORD will judge his own people.” 31 It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God. 32 Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ. Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant terrible suffering. 33 Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things. 34 You suffered along with those who were thrown into jail, and when all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever. 35 So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you!

So treating the blood of the covenant as if it was common or unholy is simply rejecting the power of Christ’s blood, denying that his sacrifice has the power to deliver us from sin. If we allow ourselves to doubt what the Bible promises; if we teach that it is Ok to continue sinning we are guilty of treating the blood of the covenant as if it was common or unholy. If we continue in blatant willful observable sin, we are sinning unto death.[The Sin That Leads to Death] If we destroy God’s temple continuing in sexual sin God will destroy us! If we continue in the sins that beset us, that keep us from running a good race we become impure, unfit for honorable uses.[Biblical Sins: The Six Levels Of Sin ] The bible promises that we are delivered from sin as we become a new creation in Christ.

NLT 1 John 3:1 See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. 2 Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. 3 And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure. 4 Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God. 5 And you know that Jesus came to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him. 6 Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is. 7 Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous.

Let’s go over this passage in detail.

The Father loves his children, those who are not of this world, but the the people who belong to this world don’t know God. God’s children will keep themselves pure by living in Christ; following, trusting in, and relying on Christ.

‘Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin.’

But those who keep on sinning show that they do not know him. They do not understand who he is.

Our actions reveal which group we are in. When we do what is right, seeking God’s will by following Jesus we are his loved children. When we try to figure things out by ourselves following our old selfish desires we are of the world, enemies of God.

Drawing Close to God

NLT James 4:1 What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you? 2 You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. 3 And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure. 4 You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. 5 What do you think the Scriptures mean when they say that the spirit God has placed within us is filled with envy? 6 But he gives us even more grace to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say,“God opposes the proud but favors the humble.” 7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. 9 Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

When we come out of the world, and come close to God, turning from worldliness and pride towards humility, purity and loyalty to God, he promises to lift us up.

Dear God,

Please forgive our sins and soften our heard hearts. Help us to live as your beloved children, keeping ourselves pure, turning from sin thru living in Christ. Help us to know Christ more and more each day as we turn from worldliness and pride and endeavor to trust fully in you. In Jesus Mighty Name we Pray, Amen.
