Daniel’s Seventieth Week, A Parallel Progression

Let’s first take a look at the passage that describes Daniel’s seventy weeks.

AMP Dan 9 24 Seventy weeks [of years, or 490 years] are decreed upon your people and upon your holy city [Jerusalem], …

NLT DAN 9:24 “A period of seventy sets of seven has been decreed for your people and your holy city to finish their rebellion, to put an end to their sin, to atone for their guilt, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to confirm the prophetic vision, and to anoint the Most Holy Place. 25 Now listen and understand! Seven sets of seven plus sixty-two sets of seven will pass from the time the command is given to rebuild Jerusalem until a ruler—the Anointed One —comes. Jerusalem will be rebuilt with streets and strong defenses, despite the perilous times. 26 “After this period of sixty-two sets of seven, the Anointed One will be killed, appearing to have accomplished nothing, and a ruler [the priest class] will arise whose armies will destroy the city and the Temple. The end will come with a flood, and war and its miseries are decreed from that time to the very end. 27 The ruler [the priest class] will make a treaty with the people for a period of one set of seven[1260 years], but after half [YLT in the midst of the ‘week’] this time [after the 1260 year – Day 1], he will put an end to the sacrifices and offerings. And as a climax to all his terrible deeds, he will set up a sacrilegious object that causes desecration [the lord over paid priest class, rules for another 1260 yrs – Day 2], until the fate decreed for this defiler is finally poured out on him.”

Looking at verse 24 again we see that after the 70th week of years, our[churches] rebellion will be finished,  sin will be ended, guilt will be atoned for, everlasting righteousness will arrive, prophetic vision will be confirmed, and the Most Holy Place will be annoited.

After the 70th week these believers will be anointed, and everlasting righteousness will arrive.  Because the devil is released for a little while after the end of the millennial reign[Rev 20:3],  we know that everlasting righteousness will only arrive with the new heaven and earth, the New Jerusalem.

Dan 12:11 “From the time the daily sacrifice is stopped and the sacrilegious object that causes desecration is set up to be worshiped, there will be 1,290 days. 12 And blessed are those who wait and remain until the end of the 1,335 days! 13 “As for you, go your way until the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days, you will rise again to receive the inheritance set aside for you.”

I believe Daniel’s 70th week is seven periods of varying length; seven “days of years”, that vary in length.

So the 70th week includes these seven time periods, these seven days:

Day 1. The 1260 year period; first half of the great tribulation.                                           [from 539BC – 722AD]

Day 2. The 1260 year period; second half of the great trib, after abomination established          [from 722 – 1982]

Day 3. The 30 year period from 1260 to 1290; days the wise making themselves white           [from 1982 – 2012]

Day 4. The 45 year period from the 1290 to the 1335; days of wrath                                        [from 2012-2057]

Day 5. The Thousand year period of the millenium                                                                  [from 2057-3015]

Day 6. The 1260 day period, first half of the final trib                                                            [from 3015-3018.5]

Day 7. The 1260 day period, second half of the final trib, establishment of the New Jerusalem  [from 3018.5-3022]

I believe the first 69 weeks of Daniel also start at the same time that the seventieth week starts, at Cyrus’ command to rebuild the temple in 539 BC.

The first week,  seven 10 year days;                  7 x 10 = 70 years takes us to 469 BC

The next 62 weeks, sixty-two 8 year days;          62 x 8 = 496 years takes us to 28 AD
