Universal Persecution: God’s Plan For All Who Seek Him

The bible tells us that everyone who wants to live a Godly life will be persecuted. Everyone who wants to live a new life in Christ will suffer persecution, but most of today’s churchgoer s don’t recognize that they are being persecuted. Part of the problem is that many of todays churchgoers have no desire to live the new life in Christ, so this doesn’t apply to them, but what about the rest in todays Lukewarm Churches?

Wikipedia says that: “Persecution is the systematic mistreatment of an individual or group by another group.”

Perhaps todays churchgoer might see a little scorn from those at work but nothing that approaches persecution from outside the church. It is very important that we understand what God is doing here. Lets look at the passage that declares “everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted”  Have You Been Punished? Are you being Persecuted?

NIV 2 Tim 3;10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings – what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted , 13 while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

I don’t think it is a coincidence that right after we hear this declaration, that everyone will be persecuted, we hear about evil men and imposter’s deceiving and being deceived. We are then reminded that the scriptures equip and correct us in the ways of righteousness.

This persecution that God’s followers experience comes from two different avenues. There are many places where Christians are still suffering direct persecution at the hands of their governments or through other religious or political organizations. Let’s tak a look at the seven churches to see who suffers persecution.

Ephesus – recognized the Nicolaitans, false aplostles, and endured patiently, but you don’t love me or each other as you did at first!

Smyrna – God knows about your suffering and your poverty— the blasphemy of those opposing you who belongs to the synagogue of Satan.

Pergamum – My faithful witness, was martyred among you there in Satan’s city. But they tolerate the teaching of Balaam, and you have some Nicolaitans

Thyatira – I have seen your love, your faith, your service, and your patient endurance. And your constant improvement in all these things. 20 “But Jezebel who calls herself a prophet leads my servants astray.

Sardis -“I know all the things you do, and that you have a reputation for being alive—but you are dead. Some ok

Philadelphia; -8 “I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me.

Laodicea – you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit[vomit] you out of my mouth! 17 You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.

I think the first four churches are still suffering direct persecution.

I believe the true God seekers in any of the other three churches suffer under the persecution of todays Nicolaitan Priesthood. This priesthood of privilege, class discrimination, power, and control. These false teachers prohibit their followers from developing into the humble, royal priesthood that we all are called to. They can only reproduce another generation of Nicolaitans, more deceived deceivers, that in turn persecute their flocks.

NIV Mat 23:8-15   8“But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have only one Master and you are all brothers. 9And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10Nor are you to be called ‘teacher,’ for you have one Teacher, the Christ.11The greatest among you will be your servant. 12For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. 13“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. 15“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.

NLT Act 20:29 I know that false teachers, like vicious wolves , will come in among you after I leave, not sparing the flock. 30 Even some men from your own group will rise up and distort the truth in order to draw a following. 31 Watch out! Remember the three years I was with you―my constant watch and care over you night and day, and my many tears for you.

Gal 6:13 And even those who advocate circumcision don’t keep the whole law themselves. They only want you to be circumcised so they can boast about it and claim you as their disciples. 14 As for me, may I never boast…

These men that are trying to attract followers, are false teachers and vicious wolves.

Todays pastor/pewsitter churches are The Church Nourished From The Face Of The Serpent!!

Dear God,

Please deliver us from this fallen priesthood, and grow us into the humble seeker followers, the royal priesthood that you desire! In Jesus name we Pray, Amen.
