Godly Church Leader’s Prayer

Dear God,

Please open my eyes and help me to fully understand the church leader warning in [James 3;1-18]. To understand that not many should become church leaders. Give us the humility to recognize that one persons words can never be sufficient for a worship gathering, because no one can tame his tongue. [Worship gatherings require 2 or 3 teachers 1 Cor 14;29-31]. Help me to do good works with the humility that comes from wisdom, never even considering self ambition or jealousy, but rather yielding to others.

Keep us from using worldly authority, from lording over others, and make us into the servant slave leaders that you require for your flock [NLT Mat 20;25-28].Help us to wash the feet of your Flock. Jesus Foot Washing Example

Turn us from worldly wisdom and keep us from collecting followers, remembering that the wisdom of this world is foolishness to you. Turn us from our allegiance to these worldly church organizations. Return our spiritual sight, return us to our assignment, to be obedient followers of Christ and his Holy Spirit, helping and serving others, feeding the hungry, giving to the poor,  helping the weak, shepherding your sheep to your feet. The Good Shepherd, The Wolf, Or The Leopard

In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.

Letter to Church Leaders

Supporting Passages:

Controlling the Tongue

NLT James 3;1 Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2 Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way. 3 We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. 4 And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong. 5 In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. 6 And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself. 7 People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, 8 but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison. 9 Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. 10 And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! 11 Does a spring of water bubble out with both fresh water and bitter water? 12 Does a fig tree produce olives, or a grapevine produce figs? No, and you can’t draw fresh water from a salty spring.

True Wisdom Comes from God

13 If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying. 15 For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. 16 For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind. 17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. 18 And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.

NLT 1 Cor 14;29 So let two or three prophets speak [those inspired to preach or teach], while the rest pay attention and weigh and discern what is said. 30 But if an inspired revelation comes to another who is sitting by, then let the first one be silent. 31 For in this way you can give testimony [prophesying and thus interpreting the divine will and purpose] one by one, so that all may be instructed and all may be stimulated and encouraged; 32 For the spirits of the prophets (the speakers in tongues) are under the speaker’s control [and subject to being silenced as may be necessary], 33 For He [Who is the source of their prophesying] is not a God of confusion and disorder but of peace and order. As [is the practice] in all the churches of the saints (God’s people),

NLT Matt 20;25 But Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. 26 But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. 28 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

NLT 1 Cor 3;18 Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say, “He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.” 20 And again, “The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise;he knows they are worthless.” 21 So don’t boast about following a particular human leader . For everything belongs to you— 22 whether Paul or Apollos or Peter, or the world, or life and death, or the present and the future. Everything belongs to you, 23 and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.

NLT 1 Tim 5;19 Do not listen to an accusation against an elder unless it is confirmed by two or three witnesses. 20 Those who sin should be reprimanded in front of the whole church; this will serve as a strong warning to others. 21 I solemnly command you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus and the holy angels to obey these instructions without taking sides or showing favoritism to anyone. 22 Never be in a hurry about appointing a church leader . Do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure. 23 Don’t drink only water. You ought to drink a little wine for the sake of your stomach because you are sick so often. 24 Remember, the sins of some people are obvious, leading them to certain judgment. But there are others whose sins will not be revealed until later. 25 In the same way, the good deeds of some people are obvious. And the good deeds done in secret will someday come to light.

NLT Luke 12;33 “Sell your possessions and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven ! And the purses of heaven never get old or develop holes. Your treasure will be safe; no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it. 34 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

Dear God,

Please use this prayer to bring you honor, In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
