Preparing The Road For The Rider On The White Horse

I believe the rider on the white horse, the Lord, is coming in 2012 and our job is to prepare the way for him. Let’s take a look at the passages that discuss how we are to prepare for his coming.

NLT Matt 3;1 In those days John the Baptist came to the Judean wilderness and began preaching. His message was, 2 “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near. ” 3 The prophet Isaiah was speaking about John when he said, “He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the LORD’s coming! Clear the road for him!‘ ” 4 John’s clothes were woven from coarse camel hair, and he wore a leather belt around his waist. For food he ate locusts and wild honey. 5 People from Jerusalem and from all of Judea and all over the Jordan Valley went out to see and hear John. 6 And when they confessed their sins, he baptized them in the Jordan River. 7 But when he saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to watch him baptize, he denounced them. “You brood of snakes!” he exclaimed. “Who warned you to flee God’s coming wrath? 8 Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. 9 Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones.

John the Baptist prepared the road for the Lord for his first coming. How are we to prepare for his second coming? How can we set things up for him to rule and win many battles during the millennial reign? I believe this passage shows us the way.

Comfort for God’s People

NIV Isa 40;1 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. 2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the LORD’S hand double for all her sins. 3 A voice of one calling: “In the desert prepare the way for the LORD ; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God. 4 Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. 5 And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.” 6 A voice says, “Cry out.” And I said, “What shall I cry?” “All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field. 7 The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the LORD blows on them. Surely the people are grass. 8 The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever. ”

Many symbols are used in prophesy. If we are to have any chance of understanding what these scriptures say we need to understand what the symbols stand for. This site is the best I’ve found at describing these spiritual symbols.

The Valleys are the lowly and the meek people of the earth. We are to raise these people up, supporting encouraging and strengthening them. We are to re-establish the Priesthood of All Believers. We are also called to make the mountains and hills low. The mountains are the large religio – political powers. The hills are the smaller powers. This passage is telling us not to support the religio – political powers of our day, our fallen churches. When we raise up the humble Priesthood of believers, and make low these worldly churches we make the ground level, and prepare the way for Christ!

There is a popular saying these days – ‘the ground is level at the foot of the cross’. Though this passage is clearly true in a spiritual sense, it is not at all true in our churches. Todays resurrected levitical priesthood has a strangle hold on these Lukewarm Churches. This leads us to another passage on the millenium, testing believers with the plumb line of righteousness.

Is 28;17 I will test you with the measuring line of justice and the plumb line of righteousness. Since your refuge is made of lies, a hailstorm will knock it down. Since it is made of deception, a flood will sweep it away. 18 I will cancel the bargain you made to cheat death, and I will overturn your deal to dodge the grave. When the terrible enemy sweeps through, you will be trampled into the ground. 19 Again and again that flood will come, morning after morning, day and night, until you are carried away.” This message will bring terror to your people. 20 The bed you have made is too short to lie on. The blankets are too narrow to cover you. 21 The LORD will come as he did against the Philistines at Mount Perazim and against the Amorites at Gibeon. He will come to do a strange thing; he will come to do an unusual deed: 22 For the Lord, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, has plainly said that he is determined to crush the whole land. So scoff no more, or your punishment will be even greater. 23 Listen to me; listen, and pay close attention. 24 Does a farmer always plow and never sow? Is he forever cultivating the soil and never planting?

This refuge built on lies that will be blown down by hailstorm is our Lukewarm Churches. Christ will make it clear that that these irreverent pretenders understand that their impure gatherings will not get anyone into heaven. God is currently looking for those who can persevere thru the deception to find the truth, to find God. We are to look beyond these fallen churches and find him at his true church, the church of Philadelphia, the humble pure participatory believer gatherings commanded in 1 Cor 14. He wants us to find the truth, to find him, and to follow the commands he gave us, the command to participatory gatherings in (1 Cor 14;26-41), Servant Leadership (Matt 20;26-27, John 13;13-14), and to learn only from those who build on Paul’s example and foundation (Phi 3;17, 1 Cor 3;10-11) .

Let me close by taking another look at our message for this world, spelled out in Is 40.

Is 40; 3 A voice of one calling: “In the desert prepare the way for the LORD ; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God. 4 Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. 5 And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”6 A voice says, “Cry out.” And I said, “What shall I cry?” “All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field. 7 The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the LORD blows on them. Surely the people are grass. 8 The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever. “

Dear God,

Please help us to understand our roles in this transitional period, to seek, follow and serve you.  Give us clear spiritual sight, and help us to prepare the way! In Jesus mighty name we Pray, Amen.
