Pew Sitters, Get Your Eyes Off Your Blind Leaders!

Any man who stands up in front of an allegedly Biblical worship service pretending he alone is authorized to speak God’s message to the people is spiritually blind. We need to take our eyes off of these blind men and focus them back on Christ. Biblical gatherings require two or three preachers. Please, don’t take my word for this. Look at your bibles. The Amplified Bible spells this out.  Letter To Pastors

The Believer Gathering Commands:

AMP 1 Cor 14;26 What then, brethren, is [the right course]? When you meet together, each one has a hymn, a teaching, a disclosure of special knowledge or information, an utterance in a [strange] tongue, or an interpretation of it. [But] let everything be constructive and edifying and for the good of all. 27 If some speak in a [strange] tongue, let the number be limited to two or at the most three, and each one [taking his] turn, and let one interpret and explain [what is said]. 28 But if there is no one to do the interpreting, let each of them keep still in church and talk to himself and to God. 29 So let two or three prophets speak [those inspired to preach or teach], while the rest pay attention and weigh and discern what is said. … 37 If anyone thinks and claims that he is a prophet [filled with and governed by the Holy Spirit of God and inspired to interpret the divine will and purpose in preaching or teaching] or has any other spiritual endowment, let him understand (recognize and acknowledge) that what I am writing to you is a command of the Lord. 38 But if anyone disregards or does not recognize [ that it is a command of the Lord], he is disregarded and not recognized [he is one whom God knows not].

This verse first tells us how we are to interact when we gather for worship. Everyone shares something, a song, a teaching, a tongue. The idea is that everyone is participating. Then it calls for two or three preachers or teachers while the others discern (whether the teaching is from God). Then it says that any spiritual leader will recognize this as a command of the Lord. Finally it says anyone who disregards this command is “one whom God knows not”. Remember the Narrow Gate and what happened to the ones that God didn’t know;

NLT Matthew 7;22 On Judgment day many will say to me Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast our many demons in your name” 23 But I will reply, “I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws”.

a little earlier in the same chapter, we are warned about vicious wolves.

‘The Tree and Its Fruit’

NLT Matt 7; 15 “Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. 16 You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. 18 A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. 19 So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. 20 Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.

We can recognize these wolves by their actions, by their disobedience to the Word. So our indicator isn’t their testimony, it is not their declaration that Christ is Lord, it is not their wise sounding sermons, it is by their example. Are they living in accordance with Biblical commands?

NIV 1Tim 6;3 If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4 he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5 and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.  Seeing Straight, Seeing With Spiritual Eyes

Lets look again at vs 5 in the Amplified Bible;

… who imagine that godliness or righteousness is a source of profit [a moneymaking business, a means of livelihood]. From such withdraw.

These men (who think preaching is a means of livelihood) are corrupt and robbed of the truth. We are advised to withdraw from them.

Pastor’s universally claim their right to pay in 1 Cor 9;14, but they stop reading too soon.

NLT 1 Cor 9;14 In the same way, the Lord ordered that those who preach the Good News should be supported by those who benefit from it.

16…In fact, I would rather die than lose my right to boast about preaching without charge. …

MSG vs17 If this was my own idea of just another way to make a living, I’d expect some pay. But since it’s not my idea but something solemnly entrusted to me, why would I expect to get paid?

The men accepting pay for preaching are not called of God to seek to prophesy [1 Cor 14;1-5]. This is just a job for these hirelings. Lets take a look at the comparison between the good Shepard, our model teacher, and the hired hand.

NLT John 10;11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep. 12 A hired hand will run when he sees a wolf coming. He will abandon the sheep because they don’t belong to him and he isn’t their shepherd. And so the wolf attacks them and scatters the flock. 13 The hired hand runs away because he’s working only for the money and doesn’t really care about the sheep. 14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me, 15 just as my Father knows me and I know the Father. So I sacrifice my life for the sheep.

Andrew Storm predicts that America’s financial crisis will deepen until we throw the Jonah’s out of the boat. Lets look at an excerpt.

“There are “Jonahs” on the boat – and they are sending the nation down.

Who are these Jonahs? I believe they are the “prophets” of America who will not preach the truth – who sleep comfortably in the bowels of the nation while chaos reigns all around them. Too afraid to deliver God’s word ‘Repent’, they run the other way – toward smooth talk and pleasant sayings – “Peace peace” when there is no peace. And the depths of this great crisis can be laid directly at their door.”

I agree with Andrew, until America throws these Jonahs overboard, we will see harsher and harsher judgments from the Lord.

Enough with our un-biblical churches, our seeker friendly excuses, this Lukewarm Church of Laodicea.  Lukewarm Churches
