Drinking The Living Water

As I was praying through the 23rd psalm the spirit stopped me at the still waters, and I was moved toprepare this article on drinking the Living Water. Let’s first take a look at the passages on Living Water.

NIV John 4;10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water .” 11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water ? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?” 13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water .” 16 He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.” 17 “I have no husband,” she replied. Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.” 19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.” 21 Jesus declared, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his workl, shipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” 25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” 26 Then Jesus declared, “I who speak to you am he.”

When we drink this living water it becomes a well inside us and leads us to eternal life! So what is this living water that Jesus offers us? When we drink it grows inside us causing us to worship God both in Spirit and in truth, and leading us into eternal life!

NIV John 7;37 On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. 40 On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.” 41 Others said, “He is the Christ.” Still others asked, “How can the Christ come from Galilee? 42 Does not the Scripture say that the Christ will come from David’s family and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?” 43 Thus the people were divided because of Jesus. 44 Some wanted to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him.

This passage spells it out for us, this living water, this water Jesus offers us is the Holy Spirit. When we really believe trust and have faith in him, he gives us this water, this ability to worship him in Spirit and in Truth, this well bubbling up inside us that leads us to eternal life.

Churches today talk about being ‘baptized in the spirit’, but their indoctrination ceremonies [many seem more like tongue speaking festivals] are totally inconsistent with this simple offer of Jesus. When we look at this offer with discernment we can see the problem at today’s churches. None of today’s church leaders follow Paul’s example [tent maker – humble servant leader]. Phil 3:17-19 declares these misguided leaders are enemies of the cross. Are these enemies of the cross going to be able to lead others to God’s true the Holy Spirit? I don’t think so!! This is fully explained in the previous article Spiritual Maturity

KJV Phil 3:17-19

17Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. 18(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

This is the reason that people at churches are so stagnant. The spirit inside them is not the life transforming spirit of the living God. It is a less powerful counterfeit, a spirit of the Antichrist.

Do people need some sort of exorcism? Will God just let this deception continue? There is a passage that seems to indicate that the truth will eventually prevail. Throughout this fallen church deception God has been crying out for believers to listen both thru his Word and thru his Holy Spirit, but we have not been listening. We have been stuck in today’s Lukewarm Churches We have been unwilling to question our leaders. We have been afraid to look outside America’s Fallen Churches to find where God really wants us.  What God Really Wants From Us

NIV 2Tim 3;8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth – men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone. … 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,

I used to think this day of understanding was a specific date on the timeline of history.  I now see that these prophetic events represent our personal experience as we continue to seek and follow God [seeking in both spirit and in truth].  The 1260, 1290, And 1335 Days In The Life Of A True God Seeker   I have seen this day of understanding in my life.  It occurred about 10 years after I became a serious seeker.  It only came when I was willing to turn from conventional wisdom, to really seeking truth, really seeking God!

Dear God,

Please help us to seek only your pure living water, never a tainted substitute, to seek and follow you, and to find your will for us. Help us to understand that your wisdom is so far above our foolish selfish minds. Keep us from falling back to formulas, and help us to Living in the Light – Seeking And Following the Holy Spirit  and to  Following The Spirit’s Leading In Every Part Of Our Lives  In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
