Letter To Pastors
I’ve listened to many many sermons, and most Pastors seem to hear the Holy Spirit pretty well, but whenever church doctrine is involved, pastors are suddenly deaf. I suspect that the problem is the level of trust that Pastors have for their teachers. This disengages the correcting power of the Word and the Holy Spirit.
I pray for the sake of your your flock you can take an honest look at how far today’s churches have fallen from the Biblical call. Please take a look at this quote from “Pagan Christianity” by Frank Viola and George Barna.
“Most of what present-day Christians do in church each Sunday is rooted not in the New Testament, but in pagan culture and rituals developed long after the death of the apostles”
I’ve read the book and heard from the Holy Spirit in this area. This lead me to present you with these three questions. Your answers to these questions is absolutely crucial. For church leaders, these issues distinguish between the those doing good with the humilty that comes from wisdom [James 3;1-13], and the evildoers, the goats in [Mat 25;33-46]
1. How does your church honor the call to servant leadership? Who is the ‘leader of all’ (Matt 20;20-27;Mark 10.46-52; Luke 18.35-43) and how is he kept from ego and pride? How is he kept humble? When was the last time he washed the feet of those he leads[John 13;13]? Here’s what I heard on Servant Leadership and Jesus Foot Washing Example
2. For those still asking for tithes, You need to ask where is the treasure of your flock. Is it in heaven (helping the poor) or is it in this world sustaining your church? [Matt 19;21, Mar 10;21, Luke 12:33, Luke 18;22]? You know this is a salvation issue!Tithing; God’s Call or Man’s Substitute
3. Why don’t you follow the gathering commands of 1 Cor 14? Why don’t you require [or at least allow] participation at worship services? Why don’t you have 2 or 3 Prophet/Teachers [preachers] at each service as commanded? Why don’t you encourage sharing and yielding to any who hear a revelation from the Holy Spirit. These are commands of the Lord as commanded? [1 Cor 14;37] Could it be that you are just an un-spiritual man? Those ‘Whom God Knows Not’
NIV Matt 15;3 Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? … [the biblical example is no longer pertinent but these words are still true]…
Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: 8 ” ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 9 They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men. [Mar 7;13]
For all who have endured and continued to read to this point I pray this blessing:
May our hearts come close to you. May we worship you forever in spirit and in truth, may we no longer limit your ability to correct and change us. May we truly be the clay in your hands, no longer concerned for the approval of men, and fervently seeking only your approval, in Jesus name we pray, Amen.
