Today is Someones Day of the Lord

Many argue that the day of the Lord must be a one time event on the time-line of history. I disagree.  I used to think that everyone experienced their day of the Lord, their day of wrath after they died.  Thinking some experienced their day in the great white throne age, and some in the age after that.  I now see that the few experience their day of the Lord in this life!  The wicked see their flesh burned away thru the trials and tribulations here on earth. The Fate Of The Wicked

Let’s take a look at the fervent heat passage:

KJV 2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

YLT 2 Peter 3:10 and it will come — the day of the Lord — as a thief in the night, in which the heavens with a rushing noise will pass away, and the elements with burning heat be dissolved, and earth and the works in it shall be burnt up.

From the wording, it is not clear whether this day of the Lord is a personal experience or a world-wide event. Either way could be right. Here is the logic that led me to understanding that the day of the Lord is not one day for all on earth.

Some of the folks who heard Jesus speak these word must have already seen their day of the Lord:

KJV Matt 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

All of the people who hear Jesus speak these words are physically dead. They are not all spiritually dead, they have not all been thrown in the lake of fire! Let’s look at the warning in Matt 24.

KJV Matt 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:[When we see the devil control of the churches of organized Christianity worldwide, we must come out of it – her, we must flee physical Babylon!]

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days![The folks “with child” spoon feed their followers with infant formula. These are today’s church pastors. The folks who give suck are today’s churchgoers. They are never expected to become mature, to be able to teach, to study themselves approved. They church system only allows one ‘called into the ministry’ to assume that role. Others are lorded over, blind sheep following the blind]

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.[if we live to be so old that our bodies can not function, we can again fall back into the lusts of the flesh, turning away from God and losing our portion.  This time after we have been chosen is sometimes referred to as the millenial reign,  this is the day that are shortened for the sake of the elect.]

23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25 Behold, I have told you before.

26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.[The lightning flashesfor the few when they see Christ ruling on his throne here on earth, in total control.  For the others, this lightning flashes in the ages to come.]

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.[This is what Jesus was saying to the folks in Matt 16:28 above. Even though these people had passed out of this life, some had never tasted spiritual death. These are the folks who never die in John 11:26. Those Who Never Taste Death and who never sleep in 1 Cor 15:51]

31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. [The seventh trumpet has been blaring for centuries, still only the few are  still alive when they hear. The many hear this  trumpet blow after they pass from this life. These angels have been gathering the elect from the four winds since the time of Jesus.] The Past, Present, and Future Day Of The Lord

32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.[To Jesus death is not physical death, but spiritual death. Remember Jesus declared in John 11:26 that some never die! Death to Jesus is spiritual death, when our soul is cast into the lake of fire.] Those Who Never Taste Death

35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.[God is not constrained by human time lines. These words say that life will be going on as normal when our time comes so be ready.]

40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

The soon coming passages:

KJV Ez 12:25 For I am the Lord: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord God.

26 Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying.

27 Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth is for many days to come, and he prophesieth of the times that are far off.

28 Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord God.

All prophesy spoken since the time Ezekiel wrote these words will be done “in your days”. It doesn’t say, in your days on earth! As we discussed above, according to Jesus, some folks never die. Since we know that everyone dies from this earthly body, we can conclude that Jesus was not talking about that kind [physical] death. I believe that Jesus is talking spiritual death, the death of our souls – being cast in the lake of fire. So when Jesus was speaking to the folks in Matt 16:28 saying before you taste death, he was talking about this same spiritual death. These folk have experienced their “day of the Lord”

Recap:

Jesus is coming soon, not to a worldly kingdom on this earth, but to build his church, to choose the few.  After being chosen you will see that this   “The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever!! Rev 11:15.  Please don’t expect God to come back to physically clean things up down here on earth. He is already sitting on the throne ruling with power, justice, love and wrath.  Our job is to overcome by the blood of the lamb, by the word of our testimony and by not loving our lives unto death!

Dear God,

May your will be done. May we see your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

P.S. Important Stuff:

KJV 1 Thess 5:1-28

1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

16 Rejoice evermore.

17 Pray without ceasing.
